Based in Cwmbran South Wales, Rafiki Protection is a Fire alarm design and manufacturing company and are one of the leading manufacturers of two wire and intelligent analogue addressable fire alarm systemsin he UK.
We are currently recruiting a software engineer to complement our existing team in the development and maintenance of our fire and integration systems.
Salary will not be an obstacle to the right candidate.

An overview of the main duties and responsibilities are provided below:
· To maintain and enhance existing real-time Windows PC software applications in Visual C and C++
· To maintain and enhance existing real-time portable device software applications in .Net
· To add IP functionality to existing standalone applications
· To produce new software applications using a variety of programming languages including C#
· To document all software alterations and all new software produced
· To work individually or as part of a software development team
· To liaise with external subcontractors and other third parties on any joint projects
· To liaise with embedded software designers and hardware designers to ensure overall system integrity
· To thoroughly test and debug software applications and systems and produce reports
· To research new software methods and available code libraries to ensure that the latest technology may be incorporated into the company’s software designs to keep them at the forefront of technology
· To contribute new product ideas
· To interpret functional requirements and produce specifications for software designs to meet them in a practical and cost-effective way
Prerequisites
· Good working knowledge of Visual C/C++ in a Windows PC environment and .NET with industrial experience
· Knowledge of and experience in creating network-aware applications
Other useful skills
· Experience with real time systems with serial communications would be advantageous
· Experience with embedded C for non PC-based custom applications would also be advantageous
